Summer Exhibition 2026

Every year since 1769, the Royal Academy of Arts in London has organised a Summer Exhibition open to submissions from all artists. Over the decades, it has grown into a world-renowned and prestigious event — last year alone, 18,000 artists applied and 1,700 works were accepted. Each edition is shaped by its own theme, with selected works displayed from floor to ceiling across large, decorative gallery rooms.
At Gallery KOAS, we wanted to create our own version of the Royal Academy’s Summer Exhibition — albeit on a slightly smaller scale. Following an open call sent out in February, an expert jury has selected a limited number of works for display. We hope this will be the first of many summer exhibitions at Gallery KOAS, and we would like to extend a big thank you to everyone who applied.

Theme 2026 – OASIS
What is an oasis to you? It could be a place, a space, a feeling, or a particular colour or shape. Something you seek, something you create, or something you carry within you.

Expert Jury 2026 – Ana María Bermeo – Project Leader at Konstfrämjandet Skåne and KOAS Board Representative; Jarí Malta – Independent Curator and Co-Founder of Fuxia 2; Mats Stjernstedt – Director of Malmö Konsthall.
