Pättersson

Pättersson in an artist who uses their creativity to navigate earlier exposures to trauma, mental disorder, and the complexity of loneliness. The inspiration to explore drawing as a practice started for Pättersson in 2019; they felt compelled to explore other ways in which to open up for conversations when it was hard to find words. Creating intimately personal stories through art became a way to emerge from the milieu of darkness.

Pättersson uses charcoal as a primary source material on a variety of surfaces which makes their work challenging. In their first series – Death do us not apart – Pättersson plays with themes of love, loss and grief. The series confronts the wounds of mortality and past love-hate relationships, drawing inspiration from Pättersson’s own personal responses that have been linked to ambivalence in early childhood.
